Bizen Osafune Hidekage (Nanbokuchō period). His father, Chikakage, was a prominent student of Nagamitsu and produced a sword that is designated as a National Treasure. Hidekage continued his father's forging style. Swords bearing his mei are very rare; consequently, the mei on this tachi serves as an exceptionally rare example of his script style.
The Hidekage smiths who succeeded him from the Ōei era onwards altered both their forging style and somthing the script style of their mei.
